Sympathy Card

Here's a new sympathy card. The flower image has a lot of dimension to it-it's hand stamped and hand colored, then it was dipped in layers of ultra thick embossing powder. Finally, I cracked the image and dipped it in ink to age it. There are two similar cards up for sale in my etsy shop here.

Wedding Cake Card

The first one sold so quickly I had to add another one-this one is the same, but with a different patterned paper background, and in an aqua color scheme instead of creams. You can find it for sale in my etsy shop here.

Paint Sample Wedding Cake Card

This card started with paint samples that I cut into strips and rounded. I used the paint samples to form a wedding cake, and finished the cake off with paper flowers and silver brads. The inside of the card reads "...and they lived happily ever after." Perfect for a wedding gift, or else use it as a bridal shower invitation. Information about your shower could be printed on the inside of the card! Contact me through etsy conversation if you're interested in using this design for a bridal shower! The card can be found for sale here.

Butterfly Birthday Card

I started with this butterfly image from Stampin' Up! and colored it using Copic markers. I then mounted the butterfly to a slightly larger circle of blue cardstock. To create the design on the left side of the card I layered circles cut in varying sizes from both cardstock and patterned paper. I mounted the butterfly image using dimensional foam adhesive and then created a sentiment using three happy birthday stickers. You can find this card for sale in my etsy shop here, and there is a very similar card listed here.

Anniversary Card

This card has the vellum portion of my card I made with an alcohol ink background, but I switched up the rest of the card design. This one has a background of patterned paper that's layered with decorative tape. You can find three of these cards for sale in my etsy shop here.

Sunday, August 30, 2009

I started this card with a wedding cake image from Stampin' Up! that I embossed and colored in using watercolor. I then mounted the image onto some matching mulberry paper that had been torn. To keep the design of the card clean, I used a strip of polka dot patterned paper in similar color tones and then mounted the stamped image using foam adhesive to give the card added dimension. I finished the card off with an "always" stamp that's also from Stampin' Up!, using a slighly darker blue ink. This card is for sale in my etsy shop here.

Pear Cards

I started this card with a very simple pear stamp from Stampin' Up!. I shaded it with my watercolor pencils and then went over it lightly with water. The cardstock I mounted it on actually uses a different stamp from Stampin' Up! that's a swirl. I also used two different strips of patterned paper for the background of the actual card, then finished it off with a sticker that reads "thank you." I also made this card in a gold color scheme with a sticker that reads "Happy Birthday." Both cards are available in my etsy shop here.

Fall Leaves Card

The handmade leaf buttons on this card were so much fun to make, but a lot of work! First I made a background on the shrink film using different fall colors of alchol inks. I then stamped the image (from Stampin' Up!) onto the background and cut them out around the outline of the leaves. I also punched holes that could be used as buttonholes before I shrunk the plastic. After sewing them onto the strip of cardstock I also added a few handstitching details. Finally, I stamped "For someone special" on a strip of of the patterned paper used on the card and attached it  using foam adhesive squares for added dimension. You can find this card (I made two) for sale in my etsy shop here: Fall Leaves Handmade Greeting Card -for someone special-

Two Gingham Flower Cards

This card started with an idea I had seen to use fabric stiffener on ribbon to make it easier to use with a paper punch. I punched the flowers from gingham ribbon and attached them to blocks of cardstock with mini brads (The other card I made has pink cardstock underneath the flowers). I attached three strips of patterned paper to each card-the corners are rounded on the outside strips, and all the edges are inked in pink. Finally, the cardstock with the flowers was attached to the card with foam adhesive to give the card dimension. This card is blank on the inside and has no outside greeting, making it perfect for an all-occasion card. It can be found in my etsy shop here: Set of 2 Handmade Greeting Cards -blank notecards-

Turtle Card

I love this card because of the many uses it can have. I originally pictured it as a birthday card for a child, but left it without a greeting, because once I saw it I realized the possibilities were endless! This would make a cute notecard for sending a friend, or you could use them as birthday invitations (they're sold in a set of 6). I even could picture these as baby announcements-either write the information on the back of a photo that you tuck inside, or else order pre-printed matching inserts from me that would have your information all printed and ready to place inside the card. You could even order these from me in a different color scheme to match a girl's birth, or order them with two turtles side by side for twins (moms of twins have to think outside the box!).

This turtle stamp is actually one I found in the dollar section at Target a while back. I stamped it in blue and embossed it to give the image some dimension. The background of the card is strips of paper that have inked along the edges in navy blue. The outside strips also have rounded edges. The turtle image was mounted onto blue cardstock and embellished with stapled white ribbon. The image was then mounted with foam squares so it sticks off the background of the card a bit.

This card is listed as a set of six in my etsy shop here: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=29616530 You can also easily order more of these from me if six cards don't meet your needs. The six shown all use the same patterned papers, but sometimes the green is on the outside with the polka dot paper in the middle. As always, you can convo me on etsy about ordering this in a different color scheme as well!

Anniversary Card with Alcohol Inks

For this card I played with my alcohol inks by Ranger. I started with a heart stamp from Stampin' Up! that I embossed with gold powder. I then blended three colors of the alcohol ink on the background to create the swirled color. The embossed heart stamp resists the ink to let the stamp show through. The sentiment, "Wishing you many more years of happiness together-Happy Anniversary!" is computer printed onto vellum. The vellum is stamped in the corner with the heart again, this time using an eggplant colored ink. I rimmed the edge of the vellum with a Versamark pen and then embossed it in gold powder. I love the way this card turned out and will definitely be using this technique with the alcohol inks again! Celebrate!

These cards started out with just the stamped image. I wanted to use my watercolor pencils, because I hadn't had them out in a while. I colored in the images, then blended the colors with water. The metal-rimmed tags were all stamped with a celebrate stamp then tied with some polka dot ribbon from the Michael's bargain bin. From there, each card is a little different, although each card incorporates cardstock, rounded corners and the ribbon. This set of ten would be great to use for birthday cards, or else you can use them for invitations. I have them up in my etsy shop with an option to add a pre-printed card inside that contains your party information. I would print the information with a turquoise version of the flower stamp in the corner of the information. You can find this set of cards in my etsy shop at the following link: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=29195963

Silk Flower Cards

This is a set of two cards that uses one of my favorite card designs. I start with a large square of cardstock that has two of its corners rounded. I then ink the cardstock with some distress ink in brown. Four rounded squares are mounted next-they are cut from patterned paper and are also inked with the same distress ink as the larger square. A large red silk flower is attached to the center of the design with a pearl brad. The sentiments for these cards are printed onto vellum and attached to the card with mini brads. One of the cards reads “Happy Birthday” and the other card reads “Thank you.” These are beautiful cards for the women in your life!! These two cards are listed separately in my etsy shop and can be found here: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=29154099

Cards Made with Stampin' Up! Dresses Stamp

This is a set of three cards that use the same dress stamp from Stampin Up!. Two of the card are on a base of yellow textured cardstock with one on a base of green textured cardstock. Each image is stamped on white cardstock and then colored in with chalk. The image is mounted on colored cardstock, then patterned paper. The two yellow cards have a “Congratulations” message printed onto vellum and attached with mini brads. The green card reads “Thank you for your thoughtfulness.” I’ve made similar cards to these before; they’re perfect for a bridal shower (or a shower thank you!) or for other occasions when you’re in need of a feminine card. This set of three cards can be found in my etsy shop here: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=29040464

Orange and pink floral birthday card

I saw some pink and orange together the other day and thought of this image. It's a pair of stamps from Stampin' Up!; one is the flower, which I stamped in pink, and one is the outline of the flower, which I stamped in orange. I layered a strip of blue cardstock along the left edge of the card, then added some pink and orange polka dot ribbon. I'm pretty sure the ribbon was from Michaels. I finished the side off with some sequined trim that was from an after-Christmas shopping trip. The Happy Birthday stamp is one I got at Archivers a few years back, not sure of the manufacturer. I stamped the sentiment onto some peach cardstock and then attached it to the card with mini-brads, my favorite supply! I've made a few of these cards for my etsy shop. The only variation between them is the color of the brads. The cards are available as a set of three here: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=28813482
